PE & Sports Premium
Following an announcement in March 2013 the Government pledged to provide £150 million of ‘Sport Premium’ funding per annum (academic year) to primary schools to support the delivery of PE & School Sport. The funding is ring fenced to ensure it can only be spent on PE and sport provision.
Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual census in January each year. All schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil. Smaller schools will receive £500 per pupil.
North Wootton Academy will aim to ensure that this additional funding reaches the pupils who need it most and that it makes a significant impact on their education and lives:
- To increase the physical activity within our school to benefit as many children as possible.
- To develop a wide range of sustainable sports activities, including taking part in sports competitions and festivals.
- To provide children with a wide range of subsidised extra-curricular opportunities.
The Principal and Senior Leadership Team will regularly and rigorously monitor, evaluate and review the strategies we have put into place for the Primary PE & Sports Premium and report to the Governing Body on its progress and impact.
The evidence gathered so far through the school’s self evaluation shows that the actions implemented have been successful in school and they are having a positive impact on increasing physical activity of children at North Wootton Academy.
